Erika Knight

Erika Knight is a highly respected British knit and crochet designer. From a fine arts background, Erika developed a successful career in the fashion industry having worked for global brands including Nicole Farhi, Jaeger, Whistles, and Marks & Spencer.

Her trend forecasting work reignited her passion for the handmade. Erika’s interpretation of craft is unique and imbued with her ethos for the uncomplicated: her mission is to simplify and communicate her insight and passion for handknitting with accessible yet enticing projects in order to inspire everyone to experiment and above all to enjoy creating.

The author of numerous highly acclaimed books on knit, crochet, and craft, Erika has lectured at the V&A Museum in London, and at other leading art institutions and universities. Erika has acted as designer consultant to craft brands including Rowan and DMC. In 2012 Erika launched her own eponymous handknit yarn collection.

Erika continues to design, write, and innovate, and recently launched a new podcast—KnightKraft—alongside her daughter and co-creator Arabella Harris.

Erika’s latest book Texture: 20 Timeless Garments Exploring Knit, Yarn & Stitch is out now with editions published in the UK, USA, France, Denmark and Germany. Each section—City, Country, and Coast—inspires these garments through landscape and sense of place. The book embraces the movement for slow fashion and honors the process of craftsmanship.
