Rowan Big Wool: Mix-and-Match Heaven
Maybe there was a time when you collected Benjamin Moore paint chips.
Maybe twenty years ago you took some art class where they waved around a color wheel and you briefly had the hang of complementary colors.
Maybe you had a time in your life where you called stuff cobalt, cerulean, sapphire, lapis lazuli, and indigo.
But now, maybe, you just want to call it blue. And let it all wash over you. Maybe you still love color and want only to play around with it.
This is why we admire the yarns of Rowan. They know that a good palette can make knitting a completely stress-free experience. They have been creating extraordinary color ranges for decades. We have Rowan shade cards on our shelves as little vision boards of what beautiful color looks like.
When we received our order of Rowan Big Wool, we tried an experiment. We paired random balls of yarn together. As you scroll through the following, you’ll see that there’s no wrong answer.

As we scheme up projects to make from the new MDK Field Guide No. 12: Big Joy, we’re finding that a big part of the fun is picking colors for the Stripey Scrappy Hat, the Rubble Hat, and the Bobble Throw.
We’re pretty sure we’re going to ace this thing. It helps to stack the deck for success!
And it’s glorious to knit with. Smooth, soft, and so fast.
I’m thinking Blue Velvet with Mallard and Vert. But I want try the Brambleberry cowl first. Agh! Too many choices.
I notice Mallard is not an option in your store. Does that mean it is already sold-out? Will it be restocked? Thanks.

I love the obscure color nomenclature of Rowan.
Makes it so hard to know what color they’re talking about, though. Especially when their ball bands show only the color number, not the name . . .
Is Smoky more black or navy??
